Thoughtful Thursday, December 7th

Today, changes finally showed up in my tracker.  I am trying to prepare myself to get with the new program.  I am of the impression that several of the things that I already eat, are now free.  As I think we discovered when fruit became 0 Smart Points, what works for one, may not work for everyone.  It is going to be an adjustment and everyone is going to have to figure out what works for you, while you are working the plan.  It has dropped my SmartPoints budget to 23 SmartPoints per day.  I think it will be better when I get all the information and can plan ahead a little bit.  I am determined to make this a positive change.

Yesterday, while I didn't hit 10,000 steps, I got close at 9,801 including 53 active minutes.  This exceeded my desired 30 minutes.  I feel pretty positive about that.  I have realized that I may need to focus on other parts of the goals so I can really celebrate my accomplishments.  I have been at this long enough to know that not everyday is perfect, but I am reminded that I need to focus on the positives as well.

Dinner wasn't as easy as anticipated.  My pre-made spaghetti had gone bad.  So we had whole wheat penne with garlic bread and homemade marinara sauce.  I was able to prepare lunch for my husband and separate out what I needed to warm up for my two younger kids' thermoses for lunch.  These are little things I'm proud of because I feel like I am working towards where I feel I should be as a helpmate for my husband.  Yes, I know there are many who may disagree with that, but this is something I feel like I'm being lead to do.  I continue to pray that I can be the person that God intends me to be.

Today is my cardiology appointment and, while I am a bit anxious about it, I will be glad to have it done.  My family history has cardiology issues.  I have had issues before so I feel like it's better to have this checked out.  Hope everyone has a blessed Friday eve!

What's Cooking Wednesday, May 7, 2025

I hesitate to even call this a recipe.  I have been making this super easy, but versatile recipe for years.  My ex-grandmother-in-law made hers spicier, but for my young one (at the time I started making this) wasn't a fan of spicy foods.  So I created a cheeseburger variety of the meat pie.  It's simply Grands biscuits, hamburger meat and cheese.  I believe she used the standard biscuit, but I have been using Grands for years.  You can absolutely change this up to use different ingredients, but it's a family favorite so I haven't changed it much.  I may do a different variety soon to bring to you!   You can watch the video here:  YouTube

Meal Plan (and make a plan) Monday, April 27, 2025

Happy Monday, friends!  I hope you are looking forward to a good week!  It's time again to share my meal plan for the week.  I suspect breakfasts will be fend for ourselves.  Last week, I think we all ate a lot of cereal.  Lunches this week will likely be chicken salad and a pasta meal.  I, unfortunately, got hit with a round of vertigo at the end of last week that is wrecking havoc on my ability to move too much and it stinks.  I will be going back to what the allergy doctor suggested a couple of years ago...using my daily oral meds (Xyzal and Mucinex), as well as nasal rinse twice a day and nasal allergy spray.  While I know that vertigo for everyone isn't caused by the fluid in the ears, it seems to be for me most times when I've had it.  It's miserable when I can't even sit up without feeling nauseous. Anyway, for that reason, our meals for the week are going to be relatively easy and may even be repeats of meals I have had on the plan th...
