Tuesday Talk, June 25th

Happy Tuesday friends!  Today I thought we'd talk about something that seems to plague all of us from time to time no matter what our journey is...all or nothing thinking.  For myself, I know it has plagued me when I was practicing for my piano recitals when I was in grade school, when I was working on my routine for competition or even in my weight loss journey.  Why is it that even if it is something that we aren't "experts" at, we expect perfection?  I don't know about you, but I somehow expect myself to doing something like I would if I had numerous years of experience at it.  Let's be honest, there are things that I am not and will not be perfect out.  As the saying goes, should you throw the baby out with the bathwater?  Um, no.  One of the things that I do to remind myself not to expect perfection is to ask myself if I'd say that to a friend or how I would feel if a friend said that to me in the way that I was staying it to myself....

Talk to Me Tuesday, November 13th

Happy Tuesday, friends!  As many of you know I was a fan of The Biggest Loser.  No matter what went on behind the scenes, it was still inspiration for me to watch those contestants change their lives.  I know there was a lot of controversy over what may have happened behind the scenes, but part of what I saw in those contestants are things that I've seen in myself on this journey.   When the mind begins to shift, everything changes.  I know that for me with my food, that has happened.  I saw a friend's blog that she's feeling that with her workouts.  We each have different strengths and weaknesses.  With my food, I have found that I can have certain foods in my house and I don't just go get the bag and eat until I can't eat anymore.  Sadly, with certain foods, I used to do that.  I found a show that NBC came out with apparently in 2016 called "Strong" that reminded me of the mind shift and how the contestant's change over time....

Talk To Me Tuesday, October 16th

For those of us that have been on this journey for a minute, we know it's not always easy to stay motivated to continue.  Given my second gain in as many weeks, I decided that it might be a good time to share our non-scale victories (NSV) and/or perhaps our "why".   Non-scale victories for me: I have had Blue Dots 12 out of the last 14 days.  I have hit my step goal for 9 days. Other than the days I've been under the weather and only drinking Ginger Ale, I've hit my water goal of 64 oz.  Other things, I've meal planned or have come up with ideas that stay within my Daily Points.   As for my "why", I want to feel comfortable in my own skin.  I want to be able to get up the mountain by myself.  I did when we were in Colorado last, but I want to make sure I can continue that trend.  I may be slow, but I made it by myself.  Also, I made a promise to my kids that I would take care of myself.  It seems so easy to get caught u...
