Pep Talk Tuesday, October 29th

Happy Tuesday friends!  We made it to Tuesday!  Yay!  It's time for another edition of Pep Talk Tuesday!  This is another important issue to discuss.  Again, this is a situation where I am seeing multiple people posting about struggling to find their motivation or that they are frustrated and struggling.  When you have been doing this for awhile, like I have, you realize that there are ups and downs on this journey.  There are times that you can FEEL the script flipping in your head and other times you feel like you are free falling.  There was a time, several years that I was not really working the plan, but I was going through the motions.  Here's the thing, I have been on this journey since well before my husband and I started dating, that was 11 years ago.  That has happened several times during my journey.  During this time, though, I was going to meetings and making an attempt to work the plan.  I was struggling to plan...

Monday Motivation, October 8th

Happy Monday friends.  Sorry this is late being posted, but it was a crazy weekend.  I don't want to go into details, but if you pray, please keep my family in prayer.  Sadly, however, my crazy weekend means I didn't get to prepare any of the things I planned yet for the week.  This does not mean that I'm giving up on my goals for the week, it just means I have to make adjustments and get some things prepared at a different pace than I normally would.   I did weigh on Saturday before the craziness began.  I gained 1.2 pounds this week.  Am I upset about this gain?  Honestly, no, while I did get a Blue Dot everyday since Sunday, I did have more processed foods than I normally do, which included a can of Cream of Potato on two different nights.  I guess I should try to plan for that not to happen that way again or have them not on consecutive nights.  I am proud of my Non-Scale Victories last week.  I'm striving to make thi...

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY, Feb. 3rd

As I stated yesterday, I am really trying to set small goals for myself to enable me to hit my goal.  I am proud that while I haven't hit the rec center to work out, I've been hitting my step goals each weekday and sometimes exceed.  I have been tracking what I eat, even if it isn't always the lowest in SmartPoints and that's big for me.  In the past, I have thought that if I didn't track it, it would be like I didn't eat it.  I know that the only person that I hurt by doing that was myself.  I have cheated myself out of being healthier because I was lying to myself.   In January, I lost a total of 4.0 pounds.  That's about a pound a week on average.  Could I have done better?  Possibly, but this time I want this to stick.  If that means that I'm going slower, then so be it.  Tonight I weighed in at 197.  That means I have gained 0.8 pounds this week and have lost 3.2 so far this year.  I could focus on the scale ...

Thursday Thoughts, Feb. 2nd

Honestly, with the new month starting yesterday, I have been thinking about my weight loss journey.  I have been successful with certain aspects of my journey in the past, but this time I feel like it's all coming together this time.  I am almost afraid to say that for fear I will jinx myself.  However, as long as this journey is taking me, I do feel like I have made multiple strides this time in the right direction.  I am focusing on smaller goals for a week or so before I add additional goals to it.  While me losing 4 pounds in January may not seem like a big deal to some people, but I have to start somewhere, right?   Beginning January 9th, I decided that I was going to get back to hitting 10,000 steps or the equivalent for each work week.  I hit that goal but then on January 16th, our office was closed and I had Rush therapy for my allergies.  Needless to say that I was not feeling like doing much that day after getting 10 shots.  I d...

Focused on Health Friday, January 13th

Weigh in went pretty well yesterday.  I mean I didn't lose 20 lbs or anything, but I did lose 0.8 lbs this past week when I wasn't planning so well.  I know this is a process and I'm not just focusing on the weight loss, but it is definitely a tool.  I am currently at 199.4 lbs.  I am determined to make some significant changes for myself.  Monday, I will be doing allergy shots.  It won't be my most pleasant experience, but I am hoping that it will help keep me healthy this year.  I am on my way to clearing a 5 day streak of 10,000 steps per day.

Thoughtful Thursday, January 12th

I apologize for not posting for awhile, but the holidays were a little difficult for me after losing Mom so close to the holidays and all.   I read this quote this morning and it's very true.  I have let myself down far too often.  There was a time that I was very thin.  Sometimes, however, life gets in the way and things change.  I have come to realize things about myself including that I have allowed myself to be comforted by food instead of confronting what scared me or made me uncomfortable.  There are still times that I have comforted myself with food.  It is time to take care of me so that I can take care of my family.  In order to do that, I am truly recommitting myself to Weight Watchers.  I am still not going to use fake foods.  I will continue to use butter, coconut oil, and the like.  After doing additional research on my own after some prompting from some vloggers that I watch, I realize that in order to keep the taste...

GET FOCUSED FRIDAY! August 12th

This has not been my best week; I’m not even going to lie.  I will likely go weigh in tomorrow morning to see just how bad it was.  However, I have decided that I would take this opportunity to re-focus on my weight loss efforts.  I feel like I’m recycling the same pounds over and over again and this cycle needs to stop.  I was listening to Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes.  It brought some things to the forefront of my mind including how important certain things are in my life and how I need to stop being afraid and focusing my mind on all of the “what if” and “could be” options that swirl in my brain.  Bad habits like soda have been creeping back in to my workday.  I have decided, honestly, that I am going to try to focus on what I CAN do this week.  My goals for this week are to: I will pack a lunch/snack each workday. I will change up my breakfast at least 2 days out of the com...

WONDERING WEDNESDAY, August 3rd

It's been a few weeks, but I feel like I am making progress working on me.  I know that self-help books/audiobooks seem to get a bad reputation, but I do think they can be food for thought.  Most recently, I was listening to an audiobook by Beth Moore called “So Long, Insecurity: You've Been a Bad Friend to Us”.  This book truly spoke volumes to me.  I can honestly say there was much in that book (things I’d rather not admit) that reminded me of the past me, I mean years past me.  I did not realize that I came across as a complete lunatic, but listening to stories so similar to my own that I have no doubt that I did sound like a lunatic.  It was a rude awakening to hear some of those stories, but to be honest, in this struggle to be a better me; it is a truth I needed to hear.  I actually discussed a situation that happened over seven years ago before we even got engaged.  One of the things that I love about my husband is that he was understand...

Faithful Friday, April 8, 2016

So much has happened since I have posted last that I hardly know where to begin, but I celebrated my 45th birthday on Tuesday, the 29th and on Wednesday, the 30th, my mom was taken by ambulance to the emergency room for breathing difficulty and swelling in her legs.  She was diagnosed that Wednesday with congestive heart failure, which add to her previous diagnoses of C.O.P.D. and Diabetes.  To an extent, I walked this road before with my grandmother. We moved forward with her admission to the hospital.  On Thursday, we were told that she couldn't eat because she was having a procedure.  Hours later, we became aware that her procedure was being pushed to later in the day, so she was able to have liquids.  A few more hours passed and we were told that it was being moved to the following day, so she was finally able to eat late in the day.  On Friday, she was pulled down for her procedure.  When it was over, there were no stents placed but it was deter...
