Thursday Thoughts, Feb. 2nd

Honestly, with the new month starting yesterday, I have been thinking about my weight loss journey.  I have been successful with certain aspects of my journey in the past, but this time I feel like it's all coming together this time.  I am almost afraid to say that for fear I will jinx myself.  However, as long as this journey is taking me, I do feel like I have made multiple strides this time in the right direction.  I am focusing on smaller goals for a week or so before I add additional goals to it.  While me losing 4 pounds in January may not seem like a big deal to some people, but I have to start somewhere, right?

Beginning January 9th, I decided that I was going to get back to hitting 10,000 steps or the equivalent for each work week.  I hit that goal but then on January 16th, our office was closed and I had Rush therapy for my allergies.  Needless to say that I was not feeling like doing much that day after getting 10 shots.  I decided I would not give in and hit 12,500 steps for the remaining 4 days of the work week.  This week I decided I was going to try to hit 15,000 for a couple of days.  I hit just under 15,000 steps and then the following day I did hit 15,000 and decided that since I was so close to 20,000 steps I might as well follow the Nike slogan and "Just Do It".  I took each of our dogs for a short walk and wound up with over 20,000 steps that day and ending January on a high note.  While I haven't made it back to the rec center for an "official" workout, I feel good about getting these steps in.

I also decided that even while I wasn't completely 100% eating on plan each day, I needed to hold myself accountable.  I began tracking again using my Weight Watcher Application or online.  If you are familiar with WW online, they now give you "blue dots" when you are within your Healthy Smart Point range.  Mine happens to be 27-37 Smart Points.  I managed to get Blue Dots 14 days out of the month of January.  While that also does not seem like a big deal, it is for me.  I tracked everyday, even when I was over my daily SmartPoints.  I have not held myself accountable for quite some time, so even when I ate something that wasn't entirely on plan or point friendly, I tracked it.  This was not easy for me.  Even though no one else was going to see my tracker, it was not an easy thing to log whatever food I was eating in.  Here's the deal...I have lied to myself repeatedly and I have let myself down.  So this time, I am doing this for me.  Not for my husband or my kids, but for me.  I am trying to keep a positive mind and I'm also trying to focus on what I can do, even if it is a little bit at a time.  Even if I'm keeping a turtle pace, I'll still cross the finish line.

  1. I remember the blue WW dots! It's like the gold stars I put on my calendar for each day that I work out.

I have constantly said I want to lose weight to be a better role model for my stepkids, or to make my fiance proud, but ultimately, I think if it's not mainly for ourselves, it won't happen.

Picnic in the Park Collab

S’mores Protein Bites Recipe You can find the original recipe  here  from Six Sisters' Stuff.  The one below is the way I prepared it. Ingredients 1½ cups Simple Truth Old Fashioned Oats ¼ cup crushed graham cracker crumbs ½ cup Simple Truth almond butter ½ cup raw honey ¼ cup vanilla protein powder (I used Orgain Vanilla Protein Powder) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract ½ cup mini marshmallows ¼ cup mini chocolate chips Instructions Combine all ingredients in a bowl or stand mixer until well combined. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on a baking sheet covered with foil or parchment paper. Place in the freezer for about 1 hour, then store in a resealable bag or airtight container in the fridge for up to a week (or in the freezer for up to a month). This original recipe says 15 servings.  I am not sure if I used a smaller scoop but I came out with 25 or so.  There were a couple that were smaller.

Meal Plan (and make a plan) Monday, April 27, 2025

Happy Monday, friends!  I hope you are looking forward to a good week!  It's time again to share my meal plan for the week.  I suspect breakfasts will be fend for ourselves.  Last week, I think we all ate a lot of cereal.  Lunches this week will likely be chicken salad and a pasta meal.  I, unfortunately, got hit with a round of vertigo at the end of last week that is wrecking havoc on my ability to move too much and it stinks.  I will be going back to what the allergy doctor suggested a couple of years ago...using my daily oral meds (Xyzal and Mucinex), as well as nasal rinse twice a day and nasal allergy spray.  While I know that vertigo for everyone isn't caused by the fluid in the ears, it seems to be for me most times when I've had it.  It's miserable when I can't even sit up without feeling nauseous. Anyway, for that reason, our meals for the week are going to be relatively easy and may even be repeats of meals I have had on the plan th...
