Thursday Thoughts, March 14th

Happy Thursday a/k/a Friday eve, friends!  Have you ever read or listened to something and it seemed like that person wrote that or was speaking directly to you?  My childhood pastor used to refer to it as "reading someone's mail" and I have also heard it referred to as having someone's number.  Well, I tell you, in all honestly, I was seriously feeling like I was being spoken to this week.  Earlier this week I was listening to an audiobook called "Made To Crave" by Lysa TerKeurst and promptly decided that I needed to get the ebook and have not made up my mind for sure yet, but I think I may have to go check out a hard copy from the library and there is also a participant's guide as well.  When she started speaking about needing to see herself through God's eyes instead of through her past situations and her baggage, it was a reality check.  I mean, hello??!!  I have struggled with my self esteem for so many years.  Then a YouTuber that I follow was talking about making the scale a god.  I had never thought of it that way, but she's absolutely correct.  We give that little thing so much power.  I actually sat down and talked to my husband about it.  Changes are coming and I'm excited!

I am feeling pretty good as this week has progressed even after the Mexican food extravaganza last weekend.  I have stuck with my 23 points a day or less each day this week.  Although, quite honestly, I feel like I need to up my fruit and veggie game again each day.  I have been hit and miss.  Hope everyone is having a good week!

What's Cooking Wednesday, May 7, 2025

I hesitate to even call this a recipe.  I have been making this super easy, but versatile recipe for years.  My ex-grandmother-in-law made hers spicier, but for my young one (at the time I started making this) wasn't a fan of spicy foods.  So I created a cheeseburger variety of the meat pie.  It's simply Grands biscuits, hamburger meat and cheese.  I believe she used the standard biscuit, but I have been using Grands for years.  You can absolutely change this up to use different ingredients, but it's a family favorite so I haven't changed it much.  I may do a different variety soon to bring to you!   You can watch the video here:  YouTube

Savings Saturday, May 3rd

As we are trying to drill down on our budget and add to our savings, I decided to have a little fun with it.  We headed to Barnes & Noble and purchased 2 Word Find books, one is 365 Days of Puzzles and the other is a book of Bible Puzzles.  The 365 Puzzle book is pretty interesting in that it varies in topic.  My puzzles for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were:  Monday: Disco [Puzzle 50], I found 10 words in 6 minutes. Tuesday: Quantum Mechanics [Puzzle 192], 5 words in 4 minutes. Wednesday: Languages of Africa [Puzzle 299], 6 words in 4 minutes. So my total to go into savings for the first week: $21.00 Savings Total for this challenge: $21.00. I have decided to only do a puzzle on the weekdays, but not the weekends for this challenge.  Why?  Being honest, there are some days/some weeks, like end of the month that get a bit overwhelming.  Only doing a puzzle 5 days per week, gives me an opportunity to do one on the weekend if the ...
