Happy Thursday a/k/a Friday eve friends! Happy Valentine's Day! This one is a bit of a two-for. My Mom always made Valentine's Day special for me, even when I was single. I still have a red teddy bear with a rose that Mom got me years ago. I have so many great memories of hanging out with her having a special dinner and she was always my Valentine, even after I got married.
For our Valentine's day dinner, I am making a meal that I know everyone likes. I was reminded again recently just how blessed I am with my husband. I know now is a time to get a little sappy, but I have been thinking about this for a bit. My husband and I were everything that we thought we didn't want. God clearly had other plans. Mom told him at our reception that there was no exchanges and no returns. Seriously, I firmly believe that if I had gotten married when "all my friends" were getting married that I would not have been truly prepared for marriage. My husband and I got married in our 30's, which to my mind seemed like it took me a lifetime to find him. Well, actually, I guess it did. We made contact on a dating website, which I probably would have never been on if not for a friend suggesting it to me. We met for our first date and spent hours talking about random things. I think that I truly knew the first time he kissed me. By his own admission, it took him a little longer to figure that out. I could not have asked for a better man. He takes care of me in so many little ways. Honestly, I do not think that I would have been able to survive my Mom's passing if not for him being there for me during that time. He laughingly tells me that he can't keep up with all my family. Well, my Dad is one of 9 children that my Memaw had so I have lots of cousins, aunts, uncles and family friends. My Mom was one of 4, but I still have cousins, aunts, uncles and family friends. This amazing man makes me coffee, buys me Minions, Minion coffee mugs or Minion glasses, Minion Easter baskets and the like. He has also bought me Mary's Moo Moos because I have been collecting cows since I was in high school. He is with me through thick and thin. I can't imagine what my life would be like without him. I don't exactly know how I was blessed enough to have him come into my life, but I am so thankful that I was so blessed. He may not be someone to everybody else, but it is definitely someone to me. Whether you are celebrating today with your significant other, spouse or friends, I hope you find joy there and that they make you feel as special as my husband makes me feel.

This is so sweet! It's great that you and your husband found each other. Does the friend who suggested the dating website take credit for you two being married? :)
ReplyDeleteShe did at first, but doesn't really now. Hard to believe that we've been married almost 10 years!
